Joy was called to the Sierra Leone Bar in March 2021.

She is currently the Deputy Publicity and Organising Secretary of L.A.W.Y.E.R.S. (Legal Access through Women Yearning for Equality Rights and Social Justice), an organization of female lawyers in Sierra Leone that gives free legal support to women who have been subjected to sexual and domestic violence, advocating for equal rights and social justice for women amongst other things.

Joy is also a project co-ordinator for the Sierra Leone Bar Association’s Project which provides free legal representation to juveniles in conflict with the law and are kept at the Remand Centre (DEMS) situated at Kingtom.
